The Anglet house

Sea and pines, written into the town's motto

Anglet carries a Gascon motto, Mar e pinhadar per m'ajudar — the sea and the pine forest to help me — and the forest appears on its coat of arms. This is no figure of speech: it describes exactly what is bought here. The Pignada covers two hundred and twenty hectares of maritime pines, planted from 1865 to fix the dune belt, and it holds the town without ever cutting it off from the ocean. Further north, the Lazaret forest occupies the highest dune in the area, close to thirty metres, from which the eye reaches the Adour and the spires of Bayonne cathedral. An Anglet house nearly always has both: the forest behind, the beach in front.

The buildings

Anglet formed from successive hamlets, and it still reads that way. Villas and architect-designed houses beneath the pines to the west. Interwar town houses and villas around Les Cinq Cantons. Family houses from the sixties and seventies, often on generous plots. And contemporary builds, turned south towards the garden.

The upper and lower town

An old and little-known distinction: the town reads on either side of the thirty-five to forty metre contour. The upper parts, where the first hamlets took hold, carry the coast and Les Cinq Cantons; the lower parts, won from the sixteenth century as the marshland was drained, run down towards the Adour. The relief changes the aspect, the light and sometimes the view.

Plots and gardens

This is what truly sets Anglet apart from its neighbours: plots here are on average more generous, inherited from a less constrained pattern of building. An Anglet house often has a garden you would not find at equivalent size elsewhere on the coast.

Buyer profile

Anglet families who want the garden, the schools and the beach without choosing between the three. Lovers of the outdoors, served by the forest, the golf course, the waves and the riding club. And local owners seeking the coast with a little more space around the house.

Landmark by landmark

Where we search in Anglet

Chiberta

Villas scattered beneath the pines, between golf course, lake and ocean — the town's most discreet quarter.

La Chambre d'Amour

The houses of the ocean front, steps from the liveliest beaches in Anglet.

Les Cinq Cantons

The centre of Anglet: town houses and villas, shops, Tram'bus and schools on foot.

Brindos

Around the lake, family houses on generous plots, quiet and close to everything.

You walk home from the beach along the sandy track, the children ahead of you, and push open the gate with the boards under your arm without having crossed a single road.

Our method

How we search for your house

We listen first

The pines or the beach, the centre on foot or an enclosed garden, the upper town or the lower. In Anglet these choices open up whole quarters, and we take the time to set them out with you.

We search, including off-market

Anglet owners, notaires and local introducers keep us informed early. With the villas to the west, many transfers are prepared long before any listing exists.

We filter before you do

We visit, we record true orientation, structural condition, the exact area of the plot and what it allows. We suggest a viewing only once the house lives up to its description.

We defend your interests

Through to completion, alongside your notaire. We negotiate for you, and for you alone — never for the seller.

Frequently asked

What buyers ask us

No. In Anglet the size of the plot, the aspect and the true distance to both the forest and the beach weigh more than habitable square metres. Two houses identical on paper may occupy grounds of no comparable order. We start from the address, the plot, the orientation and the generation of the building.

It is one of the first reasons our clients settle here. Gardens are generally larger than in neighbouring towns, schools are numerous, and both the forest and the beaches are reached on foot or by bicycle from most quarters.

It depends what you put first. The edge of the pines, direct access to the beaches, the commercial centre on foot and the quiet around the lake lead to very different sectors. We establish that order with you before searching.

Yes, and in Anglet it is common. A significant share of the town's finest houses passes through the network without ever appearing. Ours tells us in advance.

Agreed in advance and transparent. For a search mandate they fall due only on acquisition. The detail is set out at our first meeting.
